JOB: Field Application Engineer
LOCATION: East Coast
STATUS: Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY
Field Application Engineer is responsible for the development of business opportunities in the industrial, medical equipment, POS/scanning, security and other commercial applications. This position works with Hirose teams (sales and engineering), external partners (manufacturing representatives and distributors), and customers, reporting to the IG Segment Leader.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research connector requirements of potential customers within a target application and identify, which Hirose connectors might meet needs of the customer.
- Provide input to the IG Segment Leader on the most attractive applications for Hirose to pursue.
- Prepare sales materials and train Hirose sales teams (NSM, RSM, manufacturing representatives, and distributors) on potential connectors for a target application.
- Attend customer meetings within a target application with Hirose sales teams and provide technical/engineering expertise.
- Perform win/loss analysis on potential customers within a target application, including a need assessment of new or modified connectors.
- Provide support to inside sales and HRS partners, as needed.
- Special projects as delegated by the IG Segment Leader.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- B.S. degree in engineering or a related field
- Two plus years experience in the electronics industry; connector experience is a distinct advantage.
- Good communication, presence, and presentation skills to work with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
- Willingness to travel domestically and to Japan to become familiar and trained on Hirose connectors.
- Positive attitude, proactive mentality, responsive and strong work ethic.
- Fluency in Japanese language and culture a plus, but not required.
