USB connectors have become common in many of today’s electronic devices. However, as electronics continue along the path of miniaturisation, it has become necessary to introduce a smaller USB interface connector. The Hirose UX series meets all the requirements of USB 2.0 and as a result of maintaining equal length electrical paths for the differential pair, and can offer a low signal skew.
The SMT receptacle is 3.95 mm high and has 4 SMT or through hole retention tabs. These tabs ensure maximum retention strength when soldered onto the PCB, while 2 grounding contacts engage with the plug for shielding.
Plugs are supplied fully assembled with an over-moulded cover. Covers are available in several colors, including a clear overmould version. These assemblies can be produced to meet custom requirements.
Hirose’s UX series of mini USB connectors are rated at 1 amp, with an operational life of 5000 mating cycles.
