The HR31 from Hirose has been developed as a five-position power supply connector and is Device Net compliant. The connector is on a 5.08mm pitch and rated at up to 12 Amps when used with 2.5mm sq wire. Hirose’s HR31 has the advantage of using two point crimp contacts that are easily installed and can accommodate cable from 0.25-2.63mm sq. The contacts are inserted into the receptacle and are retained with a contact retention tab, which gives added strength and facilitates easy removal should a contact need to be replaced.
The use of crimp contacts gives the receptacle a low profile of 10.2mm.
The HR31 can be specified with solder or gold plated contacts. The gold contacts increase mating cycles up to 1000 times. Through hole headers can be supplied in straight or right angle configurations and can be specified wih extra "harpoon" type hold-downs .
The receptacle and plug have two latch mechanisms that assure positive a positive interface. One latch gives a audiable click to confirm full engagement with plug/receptacle and the plug has two screws that can be used to prevent accidental removal of the socket.
